Kochouseph Chittilappilly. Born in 1950 at Parappur, a remote village in Thrissur District, Kerala, into a family traditionally engaged in agriculture, he completed his early studies at the village school and went on attain a Master’s Degree in Physics from St. Thomas College, Thrissur. Kochouseph began his career as a Supervisor in an electronics company, where he worked for three years. In 1977, with one Lakh Rupees borrowed from his Father, he set up a company of his own - a modest SSI unit manufacturing and selling stabilizers, with just 2 workers. Today, with a spectrum of products like Voltage Stabilizers, Pumps, Electric Water Heaters, Solar Water Heaters, Cable, UPS, Ceiling Fans etc, V-Guard Group has grown to become one of the most trusted brand in India.
Kochouseph ventured into the leisure industry the year 2000. He established ‘Veega Land’- one of the most attractive amusement parks in the country, with a spectacular range of rides and entertainment. Located at Pallikara in Kochi, Veega Land has lent a new dimension to the tourism scenario in Kerala. Spurred by the success of Veega Land, the V-Guard Group has set up their second and India’s biggest amusement park - ‘Wonder La’- in Bangalore.
Kochouseph has won many prestigious awards and recognitions for his outstanding proficiency and performance in business, like the ‘Rashtriya Samman’ awarded by the Government of India for the highest tax-payer, ‘Millennium Businessman of Kerala’ by Business Deepika and ‘Tourism Man of the Year 2000’ by Destination Kerala.
Kochouseph has also written a book -‘Practical Wisdom ...in real life & management’, which is an account of practical management techniques he derived from his personal experiences. He has, in this book, explained in a simple manner as to how these techniques can be applied effectively in business as well as real life.
Kochouseph’s hobbies are reading, listening to music and watching documentary television channels. He is married to Shiela, who spearheads ‘V-Star Creations’ - a subsidiary of V-Guard which manufactures designer garments and lingerie.
The couple is blessed with two sons- Arun and Mithun. Arun is the CMD of Wonder La. His wife Priya is also a Director of Wonder La. Mithun is the Director of V-Guard Industries Ltd.
