V-Guard Grabs 3 Silvers at the 57th National Convention of Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering and 3rd International Conference on Industrial Engineering (ICIE 2015)

Three Teams From Wires & Cables Division Emerge Winners in National Level Productivity Competition

Three teams from Wires & Cables Division of V-Guard Industries Limited emerged as winners at the National Productivity Competition, held in Surat recently. The teams won Silver for their case studies that they presented at the event, which was part of the 57th National Convention of Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering and 3rd International Conference on Industrial Engineering (ICIE 2015).

This conference was organised by the Indian Institute of Industrial Engineering (IIIE) at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat between November 26th and November 28th, 2015 witnessing close to 300 presentations and case studies by eminent practicing industrial engineers from the industry.

Speaking on the achievement, Mr. Mithun K. Chittilappilly, Managing Director, V-Guard Industries Ltd, said, "This win means a lot to us. This has given due recognition and motivation to what the teams have implemented at their shop floor. It also shows us that the initiative that we took last year is showing results and motivates us to continue working towards better employee engagements."

The case studies that got the teams the Silvers were based on V-Guard's yearlong Employee Engagement programme, 'Lean Focus 2014-15', for implementation of Lean Principles in its manufacturing and supply chain processes. The case studies presented were based on the initiative undertaken in the units to improve productivity by application of Lean Concepts like 'Value Stream Mapping', 'Kaizen' and 'Theory of Constraints'.

The national level competition saw teams participating from major companies in different industrial sectors from all over India.
